Kirsty’s work is theoretically focused on the concept of a socially inherited shame, with particular attention to mark-making with no audience in mind. Being in the state of mind where I can be as explicit as I want to be without the fear of being judged.
During her residency Kirsty is going to working on a melodramatic film on the various Tudor Queens who were beheaded. For each of the Queens, their infamy is magnified by details of their gory demise. There is a recurring sadistic romance about beautiful and intelligent women being executed for wicked crimes. She is fascinated with the tragedy of these fallen women who were intelligent and ambitious. With a focus on all the gory details that have been continously retold for centuries.
