Fran Copeman & Lizzy Rose

31st March – 30th April 2011

110 Petersfield Avenue, Harold Hill, RM3 9PH

FRAN COPEMAN
As part of her residency, Fran’s studio was open to the public and her work is a reaction to this. Fran has drawn as she describes them her “local legends”. The drawings on display are of people who frequently visited Fran and who she will associate with Harold Hill. Fran has captured their character through her unique drawing style as a thank you to them for making her feel so welcome.

LIZZY ROSE
Lizzy Rose was our first research artist in residence. Her project is called ‘Potentail Energy Changes’. In this work Lizzy Rose explores the landscape and buildings in the area and their potential in view of their historical and mythical significance. Photographs of Dagnam Park, Hornchurch County Park and The Golden Lion pub are projected in the space on a timed loop. Infamous locally, these sites are said to be haunted according to popular myth. The work explores how the viewer’s expectations of the work changes when it is viewed in the context of the paranormal. She would like to that thank Ellen Owen and Simon Donoghue for their help.
